Find out
In order to view *.pdf files, you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader or the full version of Adobe Acrobat software installed on your computer (for more information and free Adobe Acrobat Reader download go to http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html).
The difference between Adobe Acrobat Reader and the full version of Adobe Acrobat is that the former allows you only to read *.pdf files (and search information, etc.) whereas the latter enables you to edit the documents and to create *.pdf files – e.g. by converting a *.doc file into a *.pdf file.
Why is this information important for translators and translation teachers?
It is fundamental for translators to be able at least to view *.pdf files, since many documents available on the Internet or delivered by clients via email are saved as *pdf. Not being able to view *.pdf files will definitely limit translators' possibilities of work.
