Materials

The main content of the site can be found under Materials. These fall into two categories:

  • Guidelines: a set of methodology, guidelines and didactic models designed to support the Courses provided and to assist teachers and trainers in integrating localisation technology into traditional translation classes. They also provide methods of adapting raw materials developed within eCoLoRe to individual educational needs in different teaching scenarios.
  • Courses: a dedicated curriculum for continuous vocational training in eContent localisation providing course materials that exercise teachers and trainers on state-of-the-art software for eContent localisation. Designed around blended learning concepts, i.e., a combination of face-to-face and computer-mediated education, these courses will range from Localisation and Translation Memory to Project Management.

Design and translation of the website

All the sites are made with TYPO3, an Open Source Content Management System.

The website is available in four languages: Englisch, German, French, and Spanish.

Content was first created in English and then reviewed by the project partners. Translation into French, German and Spanish started as soon as the corresponding source materials had been completed.

Translations into French, German and Spanish were done in Saarbrücken by translation students (French, German, Spanish native speakers) with little or no professional experience. For this reason some translation errors might have crept in and may still be visible on the website, even though translations have been proofread by translation teachers as far as possible.
