Teaching Space

It is said that "empowerment begins in architecture" (Pym, 2002:120). If our goal is to offer high-quality translation classes which are closer to real working scenarios, we also need to think about the teaching space.

Since technology and space interact, there are different teaching-related issues to consider when using a PC lab.

For example, if the room is full of computers, where should the teacher stand? How should computers be distributed in the room? How do students sit (type of chairs, location) and in which direction do they face?

These scenarios can be used in parallel, according to the type of class, seminar or lecture.

  1. Full-frontal Class
  2. Over-the-shoulder Teaching
  3. Peer-to-Peer Support
