You may want to protect a particular document from being opened by someone else. This may occur when working on a computer which is used by several people or when you are working on confidential translations. You can protect your document with a password.
To set the password to a specific file:
- Open the document in Microsoft Word and choose File|Save as
- In the Save as dialog box that opens, choose Tools on the right-hand side and select Security Options from the drop-down menu.
- In the Security dialog box, enter the password you want to set in the Password to open box
- Click OK and then Save
