Do you know the options that PowerPoint offers for creating presentations? (2/22)

Yes

Find out

You can create a PowerPoint presentation using the default layout or you can modify it by using features like animation effects, or by applying different design templates (which contain pre-defined styles and sizes of fonts, placeholder sizes and positions, background colours, a slide master and, optionally, a title master).

Several options for creating presentations in PowerPoint are available from File|New.

  • Blank Presentation allows you to start with blank slides.

  • New from existing presentation  uses the template of a previous presentation as basis for the new one.

  • From design template allows you to choose from a series of templates already available within PowerPoint. These templates provide a design, fonts, colours and animations which will be used in your new presentations.

It is also possible to insert slides from previous presentations or text from other applications, such as Microsoft Word.

Why is this information important for translators and translation teachers?
In order to carry out translation projects with PowerPoint presentations, translators should be familiar with the process of creating, editing and translating PowerPoint files. They should, therefore, know the different options for creating new PowerPoint presentations.
