Depending on how a chart was created, there are different ways of editing datapresent in them. For example, if a chart was created in Microsoft PowerPoint with Microsoft Graph, you have to:
Open the presentation in PowerPoint.
Double-click on the chart containing the data you want to edit.
Go to the datasheet (the table providing the information for the chart that can be displayed by clicking View Datasheet ).
Click a cell and make the modifications to the text or numbers of your choice.
Finally, click outside the chart or datasheet to go back to the slide. The changes in the data will be automatically reflected in the chart.
If charts were created with Microsoft Excel:
double-click the chart you want to edit.
The Excel menus and toolbars will automatically appear.
Click the tab of the Excel worksheet you want to edit and edit the data in the worksheet itself.
Go to the sheet that contains the chart to make sure the chart has been modified and return to the slide by clicking outside the chart.
Note: In order to modify charts created in Microsoft PowerPoint with Microsoft Graph or Microsoft Excel the relevant software must first be installed.
Why is this information important for translators and translation teachers?
Contents of charts presented in PowerPoint slide shows also have to be translated. Very often, translation tools do not extract text contained in such charts, so this text has to be accessed and translated manually by the translator.
