Find out
Although Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 does not offer an option for tracking changes as in Microsoft Office Word 2003, there is an alternative approach. It is possible to signal the changes made in a PowerPoint presentation by inserting comments.
To access this function:
From the Insert menu choose Comment.
Alternatively, use the icon for inserting comments.A yellow box opens, with the date and the users’ initials.
Type your comment in the box.
When you finish, click anywhere on the slide to close the comment box.
A text box is added to the slide.
This box, containing your comments, can be moved around on the slide.
You can add several comment boxes to a slide and each time you modify a comment, your initials will appear on it.
To insert a new comment in the same place, delete the comment or edit it, left-click on the comment box of a slide.
You can also do this by using the icons on the toolbarfor inserting , deleting or editing comments.
If you want all comments added to a presentation to be displayed, right-click anywhere on the toolbar and select the Revisions Pane. A list with all the comments made for the presentation will appear in a box on the right - and you can navigate through them.
Why is this information important for translators and translation teachers?
Usually, the information inserted in the comment boxes is not translatable. This information is meant to provide indications, suggestions and even solutions to how the translation should be carried out. This function can be used effectively in proofreading PowerPoint slides and their translations. Comment boxes can as well be used for communication between translators and clients.
