Good translation project management needs good information management. Database software enables a project manager to store information – data – on his customers and projects in a structured way. A database program can be compared to a traditional card index where the index cards all contain the same type of information at the same place and structured in the same way. This makes it possible to process and manage the data automatically, thus facilitating the use and presentation of the information in different combinations and layouts for different purposes.
Microsoft Access is a computer application used to create and manage computer-based databases on desktop computers and/or on connected computers (a network). As it is part of the widely spread and used MS Office software package, we have chosen to use this product to exemplify the contents of this course.
