Software Localisation (L10N) Course 1 - Basics

Welcome to Software Localisation (L10N) Course 1 - (Basics)

This course offers basic theoretical knowledge about software localisation. It targets professional translators as well as translation teachers and CAT tool trainers who teach localisation courses for translators.

By the end of this course you should know the basic concepts used in the localisation field and their interrelations, and you should understand the reasons why paying attention to software localisation, especially for translation, is so important. This course also includes information on the global product development cycle, the component parts, the people involved and the localisation processes in a traditional software localisation project. Moreover, it offers an overview of the tools commonly used for localisation projects and some of the criteria for using them.
