The alignment feature allows to pair source language segments with target language equivalents from source and target files. Alignment should be done when the material has been translated in the past without using a localisation tool.
Alignment is done by using the resource IDs. These refer to each resource in an application and can consist of one or more numbers, or of a unique designation. Strings contained within resources are also differentiated by (numerical) IDs.
This feature is useful, for example, if a new project has to be created for a software application which has been already translated (e.g. with a different software localization tool). Also, should a project get lost, alignment can be use to recover previous translations.
