About this course

This course aims to enhance your basic theoretical and practical knowledge of Translation Memory tools and their application. It targets professional translators as well as teachers of translation and CAT (Computer-aided Translation) tools who want to learn more about Translation Memory tools with a view to using them in their work.

By the end of this course you should have acquired a basic knowledge of Translation Memory tools. Specifically, you should have increased your theoretical knowledge of the basic features of TMs, what is needed in order to use TMs, the advantages and possible risks when using TMs, how TMs can be used when working with different file formats, and how the use of TMs changes the translation workflow.

No previous knowledge of Translation Memory tools is presupposed for this course, except for basic ICT knowledge, which you can test in the relevant courses on ICT Skills on the project website.
