Teaching in a PC lab with several computers, several students working on one PC
In this scenario, students will work in groups of two or three sharing one PC. Students will be grouped e.g. according to their ICT skills. The teacher's computer will be used to project the work prepared by one of the students. Based on the student’s work, the teacher will make corrections and the groups will discuss and give more input for discussion.
Depending on the work done in class, there will be several possibilities:
- With termbase and TM database: Students will be able to directly edit their translations, local translation memories and terminology databases in class. Depending on the tool used, these corrections can be made within the tool (for example in Déjà-Vu X) or by making use of an interface between the word processor, the translation memory and the terminology application used – e.g. Microsoft Office Word <> TRADOS MultiTerm <> TRADOS Translator’s Workbench. Alternatively, the student at the front of the classroom can edit his/her translation, the server-based translation memory and termbase, all being projected for the whole classroom.
- If doing translation:
- With termbase: Groups of students will be able to directly edit one of their translations and local termbases in class. Depending on the tool used, these corrections can be made within the tool (for example in Déjà-Vu X) or by making use of an interface between the word processor and the terminology application used – e.g. Microsoft Office Word <> TRADOS MultiTerm. Updating translations and local termbases of all other students will be done after class as homework. Alternatively, the group of students at the front of the classroom can edit the translation of one of its members and the server-based termbase, both being projected for the whole classroom.

- If doing project management: Groups of students will be able to discuss and directly edit one version of the project-related files. Updating of the other student's files will be done as homework. When using a mail or messaging system it may be necessary to create a group ID so that all members of the group will always receive all necessary information.
