Project Management 2 - Translators Tools

6. Closing Process - End of the Project (6/7)

6.1 Receiving Files

When you receive the files from your translators and proofreaders, open them and check the technical and, if possible, some linguistic aspects. Make sure that all the files are there and that they respect the naming conventions your client requested.

Depending on the size of the project, receiving and delivering files can be a very complex process. This process may involve cleaning up the files, updating translation memory, unifying the terminology, DTP and sometimes corrections of the DTP output.

Also, make sure that you update the status of every task delivered in LTC. Like this, it will be easy to see which tasks have been completed and which ones remain to be finished.

6.2 Delivering

Before sending the files to your client, check again the guidelines: file naming conventions - make sure you respect the guidelines sent by the clients and avoid renaming a file if you are not sure; some files are linked and their being renamed will trigger problems (in software, websites, etc) — and the delivery medium — ftp, email, CD.

Send them to your client – don’t forget to ask for feedback!
