Do you know how to use the spell-check function in PowerPoint without having to set the language separately for each individual text box within each slide?(17/22)

Yes

Find out

To check the spelling in a PowerPoint presentation without having to set the language separately for each text box:

  1. Click on Spelling  in the standard toolbar.
  2. In the dialogue box that opens, select the option you consider correct for each word the checker selects (e.g. change it, ignore it, add it to the dictionary, etc.).

If you want to check spelling as you type:

  1. Go to Tools|Options|Spelling and Style.
  2. Select the Check spelling as you type check box.

It is important to note that PowerPoint cannot check the spelling in embedded objects – such as charts or WordArt text – or in inserted objects, like Microsoft Word documents. This means that the spelling of the text contained in these objects has to be checked manually.

Why is this information important for translators and translation teachers?
The Spell-check function is one of the most widely-used functions when reviewing a translated document. Being able to review a text without continually changing the language settings for every slide or even every text box, saves the translator a great deal of time and effort.
