This exercise uses the materials in the folder available for download in the introduction to these exercises.

Calculate the total costs of this project, which entails translation of an English source file (ctslan_630_en.doc) into Italian and Portuguese on the basis of translation memories for these two languages. Before beginning the exercise, read the information in the read_me.txt file included in the ZIP folder. 

In order to complete this exercise, you will either have to work with the analysis files provided (.log files produced in SDL Trados 7) or use a TM system of your choice for the analysis.

In the latter case, use the .tmx databases provided, import them into your TM system, create a project with the source file (ctslan_630_en.doc) and perform an analysis of this file on the basis of the two TMs. 

The translators are paid 0.14 EUR per source word (No Match) for translation into Italian and 0.12 EUR per source word (No Match) for translation into Portuguese. 

The rates are calculated as follows: 

• Perfect and Repetitions: 0 EUR (!!!)
• High Fuzzy (85% to 99%): 35% of the No Match price
• Fuzzy (75% to 84%): 55% of the No Match price

The translators are not asked to check the perfect matches, consequently they are not paid for them. However, the whole contents of the file will undergo revision. The rates for revision are as follows: 0.03 for Italian and 0.025 for Portuguese.
